We are all just waiting for another universe to collide with ours, to change what we can’t ourselves. I read this somewhere lately.
There was a surprise at my door the other evening. It was my camera body back from Nikon! Officially took a week and a half. Not bad. So there was really no excuse not to go out Saturday morning! Alarm set for 4:30am. My little squirt cat got me up at 4:15am! Can never sleep in! HA! It felt good to get up that early actually. I knew I had the whole day in front of me. I wasn’t going to miss sunrise! The weather was damp and I knew fog would be out. I made the short drive out to Moraine State Park. I don’t go there very often. Actually I think this is only my third time there. There was a spot I was looking for on the South shore that I was at before and really liked, but somehow after a wrong turn ended up on the North shore of Lake Arthur. Nevertheless, sunrise was drawing near and I wanted to choose a spot. I found a nice area right on the shore line. It was nice and peaceful. Fish were jumping like crazy and I could hear the bees having their way with the wildflowers behind me.
The second half of my adventure today I went over to McConnell’s Mills State Park which is about 10 minutes away. Actually a section of NCT connects the two parks. I wasn’t sure if I was going to take any photos, I mainly just wanted to hike. I set out for my favorite trail. There were still wildflowers on the trail. The trails is quite treacherous especially when it’s damp out. It seems like this trail never really dries out. I knew I wasn’t going to go very far, I made it to the first little bridge. I’d guess about a half mile. I spent most of my time hanging out on the sandy shores. It was a neat experience because even though I’ve hiked this particular trail many times. Today was the first time I’ve seen a ton of wildlife on it. Mainly bugs and such but still. So the count for today, 7 centipedes (creepy looking things), 7 toads, 4 caterpillars, 1 water snake (terrifying!), and 1 hummingbird (amazing!).
This image was taken right as the sun was hitting the horizon. It is an 8 second exposure, using the Lee Little Stopper, yes, it’s really called that 🙂 I’ve been using this new filter almost exclusively since I got it two months ago. I’ve also started to experiment with stacking it with my Lee 10-stop filter (Lee Big Stopper). I’ll be posting more of that work as I start to create more images.
