Stillness on Lake Jean
I went to Ricketts Glen for the waterfalls, who doesn’t their first time? But got so much more than that. I awoke my first morning there to slight misty rain and heavy fog, my favorite! I headed back to the spot I found the night before and scrambled down the hill to the shores of Lake Jean. I was met by silent stillness. I can’t quite describe it and maybe it doesn’t need to be. For the first time in a while my head was clear. Silent. Just like my surroundings. It’s these tiny moments that I cherish. I share with nobody and yet everyone at the same time. But the moment is mine. That quiet stillness.
What you do speaks so loud that I cannot hear what you say.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
“I share with nobody and yet everyone at the same time”. I love that! And the image too….very emotive!
Thanks Howard. Seems to be something I’m working through right now on a personal level. I have to say, I could’ve sat at that spot contemplating a whole heck of a lot long than what I did. It was just beautiful. I love the elements that way!
