Dense fog on LHHT

Snowy Glendale Lake

Prince Gallitzin never disappoints. I know I often say that but it is true and to think I’ve only begun scratching the surface of this beautiful park. Glendale is also my favorite lake with it coves and crevasses. I arrived late in the afternoon to find the lake completely frozen over. This was my first experience with Glendale frozen. I saw many others already out there ice fishing. They setup these teepee looking tents presumably over the hole to keep warm. There was a family there with one such setup. It looked like they were camping out right on the ice! The kids were happy as can be playing with their sleds. I’ve become quite enthralled with walking to the middle of frozen lakes lately. It’s such a different view. I pulled my car into Turtle Cove. The snow banks were high but able to be climbed with ease. I found a spot where people had already stepped out on the ice. I just followed their paths. There was some crunchy stuff for a top layer and at first I thought I’d step right through. Took some time to adjust. I started walking at least 23-35 ft out from the banks and around the lake. I was struck immediately by the colors of the pines and the bench against snow. I setup to take the shot and had noticed that it had started to snow. I had thought it just to be the most amazing thing ever. Then again I think a lot things in nature are amazing. Like standing in the middle of a frozen lake.
