Dense fog on LHHT

Looking Out

In lieu of Valentines day. I’m offering up something a little more nearer to the heart. Valentines day to me is one of those made up *Hallmark* holidays, just to get you to part with the bills in your wallet. What we don’t realize it that Valentines day is more than that. More than that to people who feel lost and alone. To them it’s a day that’s flaunted in their face as a brutal reminder that they aren’t paired. Some will choose to go out with friends and have an anti-valentines day. Some will pretend it doesn’t exist at all and move about as if it were a normal day, ignoring all of those people wearing red, and all the advertisements in the stores. Some yet will face it alone with their thoughts.

Sometimes we meet people and it’s just not a good time. Our lives are a wreck, and we have no idea who we are. For fear of more pain, we push them away even when then never deserved it. They never had an idea how or what they actually meant to you, actually quite the opposite. They go away scorned and confused because you didn’t. You made them feel they were so unimportant in your life. Why does this happen? Many reasons and until we can sit down and examine ourselves we will never know the answers to why this happened. Sometimes these people have the courage to insert themselves back in your life.

The kindest gesture you may receive in rough times maybe those few kind words from someone. Someone who lets you know that they appreciate you and all that you do. If we allow this, if we allow that person to exist in that moment with us, we will really hear what they are saying and it’s in those moments when we truly heal.
