I wanted to do something a little different this morning. I’m probably a little biased, but Pittsburgh has one of the best skylines in the country. Realizing that I haven’t photographed it since summer. This morning I set out to change that. It was cold, coming in at 22F. It felt colder then that. Either way, it was a beautiful view. The buildings were lit in red and green for Christmas. The skyline really comes alive during the dawn and dusk hours. I really thought I would be the only one out this morning. But that was not to be. Shortly after I arrived (I wasn’t even out of the car yet), another car pulls in. I gathered my bag and tripod and made my way to the overlook. Shortly after I realize there was another photographer there. He set up his gear, and fired off a quick 10 shots. I heard the clicks. Then packed it in and left. Guess he was cold. The next 2 hours I had all to myself. My fingers were frozen by the time I decided to pack it in.
Pittsburgh sometimes still gets a bad rap. Known for years at the center of the steel industry, the skies were dark and filled with smoke. If you haven’t been here, you might still have that idea. But guess what the smoke is gone! See for yourself!
