Mellon Square
I’ve been drawn to Architecture Photography as of late. Not that I’m moving at all from landscape, don’t get me wrong. It’s just since I’ve rented the little Fuji X Pro-1 it sparked creativity in other areas. I always pay attention to my surroundings, I’m always seeing neat shapes or perspectives from my day to day. I realize I can’t always run to some drop dead gorgeous location for sunset. It seems that anymore, in landscape photography everyone is always drawn to what I like to call ‘hyper colors’ and if you can’t get the hyper colors then why not add them in Photoshop? I’m not a believer in over photoshopping a photo, in fact I barely use photoshop at all. Not saying this doesn’t happen in other area’s of photography, architecture included. Nonetheless, I’m drawn to it. I want to go down this creative path and see what happens. I’m not the best. I have a ton to learn. But it will be fun! It will be away to explore.
This photo is of Mellon Square. Mellon Square is a nice little park next to the building where I work. It mixes typical urban park with nice water features and greenery. It’s nice to be able to grab a seat here. Take in some sun. Chat with friends, read a book, or sip on coffee in the middle of the day. I’ve been thinking of this picture for three years! Every time I go there I look up and see the juxtaposition of the buildings together. I just think it’s a neat view.

Great shot! I particularly like the rendition of the lights and how they add to the photo. Always interesting to see which way the creative path leads!
Thanks Howard! I’ve been envisioning this shot for quite some time! I really like this little area, it’s such a great little urban park.
