Finding inspiration in the Laurel Highlands

Most of my day isn’t spent in thoughts about my next location anymore. Inspiration has been extremely tough to come by the past few years. Chalk it up to the monotony of life and I gave up something I was and still am very passionate about. Hiking and Photography. Both, hiking and photography fill a void in me, I’ve come to realize. I need them in my life, they provide a way to disconnect and recharge. So with that said, I am beginning to look through the photos I was able to get out and make over the past few years and will begin to edit those, if I think they are worth editing and sharing on my blog.

I am eager to share more adventure stories as I get out and create new memories and photos of places new and old. Often when I’m in a funk, I’ll go back to places that I haven’t been in a while. A favorite place, a place with a trail that calls to me. Something that meanders along a stream are often my favorites.

Laurel Hill State Park is one such place. Hiking along Laurel Hill Creek takes the hiker through an old growth Eastern Hemlock forest and down right along the stream. The trail isn’t that long and it doesn’t need to be, it’s a magical experience. The day of my visit it was rainy, of course, favorite conditions. It was misty and it was a lovely experience. The wild flowers were in bloom along some parts of the trail. It was green and lush throughout. The waters were cold and refreshing. Truly was a wonderful morning to be out.
