Dusk at McConnell’s Mills
It’s been some time since my last post, and for that I apologize. What have I been up to? Well capturing photo’s of course. I’ve been so busy shooting over the past month that I’ve barely had time to post. Tonight though a buddy and I were able to make it out to McConnell’s Mills just as the sun was setting…actually no, we missed sunset. That doesn’t mean that there was no fun had. We spent a few hours shooting the stars and light painting. Dare I say though that maybe…just maybe spring has sprung in Western Pennsylvania? It wasn’t to cold of a night, but chilly enough by the water for a hat. We climbed down to one of my favorite spots to shoot at the mills. This same spot last week was covered in snow, nonetheless, it was very slippery, we had to be careful. I’ve explored this place plenty of times, but never at night. The park closes at sundown, for obvious reason’s. It’s very dangerous, and there have been several deaths there over the years. I am very aware of the dangers. So we didn’t venture far. There was a calm sense about the park. Although as the night went on, the rapids seemed to get a little bigger. I’ve heard a lot of stories lately about a mill worker back in the 1800’s whom lost his life there. It’s said that sometimes in the wee morning hours, you can see him walk the path into the mill, and turn on the lights. Only to hear his screams as he re-lives that fateful day over and over. But it is only an urban legend. Though the place does have an eerie feel to it sometimes. This night though, it was just cool to be out there, sharing a favorite spot with a friend. We ultimately had to cut our trip short as park rangers found us. They were honestly very nice, but asked that we leave, due to the dangers. We understood, chit chatted a little bit, and went on our way. It was still a very fun night!

I know what you mean about being busy… but that’s a good thing. 🙂
This is an awesome shot, Stacy. Wonderful composition and I like that light burst with the reflection across the water. Excellent work, my friend.
Thanks for taking the time to comment Jimi! I was actually really surprised by this shot. I couldn’t believe that little lamp post gave out that much ambient light! 🙂 Thanks again for stopping by!
