Mountain View Trail

Those who know me, know I can’t resist being out in nature. Out in the middle of nowhere, not a soul to be seen. I always tend to find the longest trails a place has to offer. More often than not getting out there to the middle of the trail on a beautiful day is nothing short of one of the best things in life. At least I think so. Often it is quiet, you are left with your own thoughts. This is unmatched solitude. Nothing beats hanging out by a stream, listening to trickles of water, crickets, birds, the wind through the trees. One can really lose themselves in the sights of sun streaking down on the forest floor.

This shot was taken of the Beaverdam Creek. The creek descends along the Mountain View Trail in Blue Knob State Park. The creek begins at about 1 mile in. Traverse alongside the creek until you reach a connector trail, just before the outlooks. This trail is rugged! It begins with an uphill climb at a steady pace. Then descends again to the forest floor. I spent quite some time sitting there watching light stream through the trees and the call of the birds. The slow trickle of the water was calming and I was able to lose myself in thought and creativity. I spent about an hour or so enjoying this spot. This little stretch of the trail was quite beautiful. Not that the rest of the trail wasn’t stunning itself, but there something about being near water. Soon after leaving this spot was another uphill climb and more of the creek reveled itself. Beautiful small waterfalls formed from the water flowing down off of the rocks. Once I found the connector trail, I decided it was a good time to take it and head back to the car. I will be back to explore the upper half of the trail. For now, what I saw, was plenty to know that this place brought simple joy to the soul.
